Crochet for CELLFiE
Handmade blood cells can help turn complex science into something children can see, hold and understand. Volunteer crocheters are invited to use the patterns below to create red blood cells, white blood cells and sickle cells that may be used as educational tools within the CELLFiE Project.
Red Blood Cell Crochet Pattern
Create a soft, three-dimensional red blood cell approximately five inches wide using the downloadable amigurumi pattern. The pattern includes a materials list, step-by-step instructions and important safety guidance for items intended for young children.

White Blood Cell Crochet Pattern
This downloadable pattern provides instructions for creating a textured white blood cell approximately four inches in diameter. It includes the materials, stitches and construction steps needed to create the finished educational model.

A Note About Safety
When creating crochet items for young children, please follow the safety guidance included with each pattern. Plastic safety eyes may present a choking hazard for children under three and should be replaced with embroidered features when appropriate.
